Friends know me as SHAANYA. My full name is MAHENDRA SHANBHAG (which I forget sometimes 
).
I was born on 29th November of 1983 in Hubli, Karnataka. I am the second son of Mr. Jeevan Shanbhag and Mrs. Prema Shanbhag. Raghavendra is my elder brother and Sudheendra is my younger brother. There is one more person in my family whom I love very much and I am her favorite!!! Yes it is my Grandma.
My father is a retired SBI officer and mother is home-maker. Raghavendra has yet to start work and Sudhee is currently working in Infosys, Bangalore.
My education started in a small village called Bilagi now in Bagalkot district. I did my 1st to 3rd standard in Bilagi, then my Father got transferred to Honnavar, which is in Uttar Kannada district. In Honnavar I completed my 4th, 5th and 6th standard education and it was one of the best schooling I ever had. Here I got some good friends as well as good teachers. Then we moved to Bijapur, a city well known for the great architectures of historical importance built during the Adil Shahi dynasty. After 2 years of eductaion, my dad got promoted and we shifted to Belgaum, which borders the states of Maharashtra and Goa. I love this city, it gave me education, friends, teachers and job. I completed my SSLC (10th)from B. K. Model High School and joined GSSc college for pre-university education. I did my engineering from Gogte Institute of Technology, Belgaum.
After my engineering I joined Cognizant Technology Pvt. Ltd. Bangalore on December 30th 2005. I had nice company here in Cognizant. After working for 6 to 9 months in CTS I realized, this is not what I wanted to do and decided to go for higher education. Deepak Kidiyoor and few others inspired me to take up GRE exam and go for MS. I started preparing for GRE during my free time in CTS. I gave my GRE on 4th December 2006 in Bagalore and TOEFL on 14th January 2007 in Mumbai. I got an admit from Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, NY, on 2nd May 2007. I decided to go to RIT as it was the best options that I had at that time. I departed from India on 6th August 2007. I completed my Masters’ degree in Electrical Engineering @ RIT in 2010 June. Currently I am working in Pune in Image Processing field.
