Today afternoon my friend, Mr. Ncore sent me a video, titled as above. I usually reply back him saying, I have already seen this video, but this time after watching the video I replied him I will include this one in my blog. I will not reveal what the video is really about. So please take some time to watch this video and think about it when you are ordering in a restaurent or wasting food @ home next time. We all know the fact but still we forget it somehow.

JANA-GANA-MANA-RANN HAI

When I first saw the trailer of RANN, I was sure that the song is going to creat a kind of controversy, and that has happened, which is obvious. Also there is a news that, Sensor Board has banned this title track. All this is because the song uses the lines and tune of our National Anthem.

I agree, one has to be cautious while manipulating national anthem lyrics, as it is related to country’s dignity. But niether the lyrics nor the singing is bad. The ban is not right in my view, as it has no objectionable lyrics. Truth is clearly visible in each and every sentence and thats what hurting, “WE”, the people of India.

Those who dont want to see the reality and who are scared, the people of India will wake up and take action, against the corrupt system, only those can ban such a song.

I know, RGV is just using this song and people’s emotion to make money, what is so bad in it???

Someone rightly said “To me, a person eating chewing tobacco and spitting publicly on the face of my motherland is more of a criminal than someone who is twisting an anthem or getting thrills out of parodying it.”

Its very easy to criticize anyone but to come up with something concrete it needs guts and if someone has it appreciate that. We Indians are so used to live in our dream world, where India means Unity in diversity and Mera bhaarat mahaan. Indeed time has come to break the shackles and realize the truth.

Now before commenting what you feel/think, just listen to the song once [again], with the lyrics below. I am sure it will make you think, where have we reached in these 62 years of so called FREEDOM.

26/12 – Sidnal School Event

I start my post with “Three cheers to Teachermani group”. Hats off for the success of Sidnal 26/12 event.

As per the schedule the event would have taken place on November 14th, i.e. Children’s day, but the lack of volunteers and funding postponed the event on 26th December and our guys organized the entire event in professional manner. The event went well more than everyone’s expectations.

Oooooops!!!!! Most of you might not be knowing what the event is… The event was organized in Sidnal a small village and it was for school going children and their parents. The main motive is, to create the awarness and the importance of going to school and studying, and carrying it on throughout to create bright future for themselves. So the caption of the event was, ‘SANGYA SALIGE HODA, MANGYA MARA HATTIDA’. The team was lead by Jannu,Patkar, Ravi, Sandeep, vishal and others supported them equally. Thank you all.

The event started off with a skit, ‘SAALI KALATARA SAAVIRA DAARI; SAALI BITTARA NADU DARI’ – if you learn there are thousand ways in life, if not, you will be no where – followed by fun games (balloon fight, musical chair, sack race, lemon spoon, rangoli, memory test, balloon race). The event came to an end with prize distribution function and every child got one or the other gifts – T shirts, books, pens/pencils, crayons etc… None of them were tired even after such a long day at the same time each member of the organizing team thoroughly enjoyed the event. When it was the time to say bye, all the kids shook hands with all volunteers and asked everyone ‘MATTA YAVAGA BARTIRI ??’ matta barri etc! – when will you come once again? come again…

As per one of the organizers,
“The efforts were fruitful and the day was exciting for all of us and kids. Even teacher was happy at the end of the day – since she wasn’t sure how are we going to make it with short time for planning and preparation. So one GOAL reached and we are ready for many more in the future.”

Is Baar Nahin – Not this time!

Prasoon Joshi, the dialogue writer of “Rang De Basanti“, penned his thoughts in a poem, after Mumbai terror attacks. He believes it is our collective pain and voice, that should reach as many people as possible. That is why I am posting the poem, with its English translation, here in my blog.

GMail Breaks Audio-Visual Barrier

Yesterday evening around 8:00 PM (EST), I saw my friend Avadhoot’s gmail status showing . I wondered what is this new thing??? Egzactly @ that moment, our Shashi pinged me and asked, did you check Gmail’s video and voice chat. I Googled it immediately and installed Gmail’s Video-Voice chat feature and started enjoying it!!!

All these days, whenever I wanted to video chat, I had to login into yahoo! or skype; but now I can do that in Gmail. When I tried I found, it is easy to install and use, with high quality audio and video. To try this new feature you just need to

1 . Download the plug-in from http://mail.google.com/videochat

2. Install it

3. Restart the browser

4. Logon to your Gmail

5. Choose one of your friends

6. Click on “Video & more” option from the left bottom of the chat window

7. To view larger video you can either click on pop-out icon or view full screen icon

Google says, they have just started to roll out Gmail Voice and video chat for both PCs and Mac and no need to worry if you don’t see it right away as it could take a day or so for this new feature to available in all Gmail and Google accounts.

Following are some of the things that I came across while using this new feature,
1. You can’t video chat with more than one person at a time – Yahoo! has it.
2. No call conferencing – Skype rocks here!!!
3. Gmail says, “Even if your friend doesn’t have a video camera, you can still make a voice call or a 1-way video call.” I wasn’t able to make 1-way video chat.

I am sure Google will come up with all these features soon and after God, the next thing will be Google in this world.

ADITYA: An Indigenous Mission

The success of Chadrayaan – 1 has boosted the confidence of ISRO scientists and now they are looking beyond moon. Now they are targetting SUN.

ISRO has conceptually developed a sun mission and named it ADITYA, the first space based Solar Coronagraph intended to study corona.

As per ISRO Chairman G. Madhavan Nair, Aditya has been approved and its operations would begin soon. Sun mission is very critical and one of its kind in the global space research.

Though the exact date and time is not yet confirmed, ISRO is planning to launch ADITYA during next high solar activity period.

Round up – October Last Week

Its already the end of last week of the October month and many things had happened around the world!!!!

Tuesday, 28th: We lit candles on the occasion of Laxmi Pooja, here in Rochester @ Teju’s place. Thanks to Nivideta for beautiful Diwali candles and Shammi’s mom for Diwali snacks.

On this occasion of Diwali, Mr. Cyber launched two RJs (Miss Divya and Miss Hema) in his online-radio, Radio Girmit.

Wednesday, 29th: Vishwanathan Anand, the undisputed World Chess Champion in 2007, successfully defended his title against Vladimir Kramnik.

We experienced the 1st snow fall of the year, in Rochester earlier today and later, in the evening celebrated Halloween Day in Computer Science Dept. @ RIT.

Thursday, 30th: Pawaman Joshi, close friend of mine, celebrated his 25th Birthday in Pune, India.
Later on the day, Gautam Gambhir and VVS Laxman hammered double centuries on 2nd day of the 3rd test match against the world Champion team, Australia in New Delhi. It is the first time in the history of Indian cricket, that two batsmen have scored double centuries in an innings.

Late night, our kannada radio, Radio Girmit recorded highest number of listeners, till date and the number crossed fifty mark!!! (52 to be precise ). i.e. exactly after one month of its launch!!! Congrats and best wishes to the whole team of Radio Girmit.

Friday, 31st: Deepya urf Appu, future management guru and entrepreneur celebrated his 25th Birthday in Gadag.

Our suTTaman urf Neerya arrived @ 171, from India, after a break of around 5 months.

First images taken from Terrain Mapping Camera of Chandrayaan-1 were received by Indian Deep Space Network @ Byalalu, which were later processed by the Indian Space Science Data Centre.

Chandrayaan-I: The power behind the Reverse Brain-Drain

This was the 1st question raised in my mind, when I read in the news today that, several Indian origin scientists and good number of foreigners, from NASA are knocking the door of ISRO, looking for opportunity to work in India’s future space missions, following the success of Chandrayaan-1 launch.

In one of the kannada movies the hero wonders, what a country America must be!!! It has the capacity of attracting innocent, intellectuals, even from rural areas of India. He hopes some how the brain drain stops completely.

When I watched that movie I also felt the same way. Everyone keeps says, India has the potential, and it will become a great power in near future… I always dreamt about that day…

We all criticize India, for its poverty, politicians, rural issues, corruption, regionalism, ‘caste’ism etc. Now we, should be proud that, even though India is struggling with so many issues, it is giving a very good competition to other leading countries, in space.

After the launch, US Democratic Presidential nominee Barak Obama had warned, India’s mission should be a wake-up call to America, which is getting complacent and sloppy about maintaining its position as the leading nation in space exploration.

Chandrayaan-1 Launched on 22nd October carried 11 payloads – five from India, three from European Space Agency, two from NASA and one from Bulgaria. i.e. 50% of the instruments have come from outside India. It does not mean India has 50% capability; instead we going to them , they came to us as co-passengers

This reaffirms ISRO’s matured and advanced technology.

I put an intermission to this post with a hope that at least now onwards, we can see more and more Mohan Bhargavs returning to their Kaveri amma, to serve Swades!!!

CHANDRAYAAN – 1: India’s Mission to the Moon

On 15th August 2003, India’s Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee announced “Our country is now ready to fly high in the field of science. I am pleased to announce that India will send her own spacecraft to the moon by 2008. It is being named Chandrayaan-1″.

Chandrayaan means Moon Craft, in Sanskrit.

Now, India is all set to launch its first unmanned mission to moon, CHANDRAYAAN-1 on Wednesday, 22nd October 2008. It will be launched from The Satish Dhawan Space Centre, about 10 minutes after sunrise using Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV). The objective of this 3.8 Billion (INR), (US$ 83 Million) mission is to survey the lunar surface, at least for a period of two years, to produce a complete map of its chemical characteristics and 3-D topography. 1.5 meter cuboid shaped lunar craft will be orbiting around moon, about 100 KM above the lunar surface over a period of two years.

Chandrayaan will be carrying 11 payloads.
1. Terrain Mapping Camera (TMC)
2. Hyper Spectral Imager (HySI)
3. Lunar Laser Ranging Instrument (LLRI)
4. High Energy X-ray Spectrometer (HEX)
5. Moon Impact Probe (MIP)
6. Chandrayaan-1 X-ray Spectrometer (C1XS)
7. Smart Near-IR Spectrometer (SIR-2)
8. Sub Kev Atom reflecting Analyser (SARA)
9. Radiation Dose Monitor Experiment (RADOM)
10. Miniature Synthetic Aperture Radar (MiniSAR)
11. Moon Mineralogy Mapper (M3)

Out of these eleven payloads, first 5 are designed and developed in India by Indian Scientists, 3 from European Space Agency, two from United States and one from Bulgaria.

People from the lowest to the highest level are working round the clock with the great excitement for the success of this complex mission.
