JANA-GANA-MANA-RANN HAI

When I first saw the trailer of RANN, I was sure that the song is going to creat a kind of controversy, and that has happened, which is obvious. Also there is a news that, Sensor Board has banned this title track. All this is because the song uses the lines and tune of our [...]

Watkins Glen Hiking Trip

RIT had arranged a hiking trip on this Saturday (11th October). Myself, Teju, Amith, Abhijit and Arunima had registered for the trip. We boarded the bus from Rustic village @ 9:30 AM. We reached RIT campus by 9:50 AM and piked up few more students. Thanks to Ms. Audra Dion from MCC, who arranged pick up bus from Rustic village. She joined us in the bus, from RIT. There were 33 students in our bus.

We reached Watkins Glen, the hiking place, around 11:45 AM. “Glen” comes from an old Gaelic word meaning small, narrow and secluded valley. It is 12,000 years old pace with very nice water falls, sedimentary rocks and surroundings. The ambiance was so beautiful with fall colors all around!!! Everyone was crazy!!! (Except Amith ;) who hurt his ankle). There are 2 main trails, Gorge trail and Indian trail. We took Gorge Trail while going and Indian trail while coming back.

The hiking starts with Spiral Tunnel, which ends at the beginning of Sentry Bridge that take us to Gorge trail. On the way we saw Heart-shaped pond, Cavern cascade, Rainbow Falls, Frowning Cliff, Lover’s Lane, Central cascade, Mile Point Bridge, South rim trail etc. We met a group of nicely dressed American ajjis, one of them were celebrating her Birth day :) . We took a snap with them and wished Happy B’Day to B’day-Girl ;) .

We reached our destination around 1:45 PM, by that time all Veg-sandwich were gone :( We took few fall color snaps first and then started our so called lunch. We had muffins, tortillas, baby carrots, apples and chocolates. After lunch we played catch-catch for some time and started walking back around 2:15 PM. This time we took Indian trail. This trail is similar to Indian forests (may be that’s the reason it is named Indian trail). Watching Fall colors on this trail is real joy!! We took few more snaps on the way and reached bus-stop by 3:15 PM. Bus started around 3:45 PM. we had a plan of playing Antakshari, but we had to end our antakshari in the middle, as we got warning from one of the passengers, not to make noise!!! (Trip mein aaye toh sone kyaa bus mein???). Bus reached RIT Campus around 5:15 PM and then dropped us @ Rustic Village around 5:30 PM. We had a nice time. Thanks to Amith and Teju for registering my name ;) .
