Last account activity in Gmail

While chatting with Deepak today, I came across one more topic for my blog. Thanks Deepya :)
Deepya pinged me and asked whether I have seen this new feature offered by google. Then only I noticed this new feature. Deepya asked me what is its use. Unknowingly I gave him the answer that it might be helpful in knowing in case our account has been hacked but I wasnt sure. He started teasing me. Then I searched and came to know I was correct ;)

It tells the user from which IP address last access was made, at what time and date. This enables the user to know if some one has gained access and can be used to troubleshoot unauthorized account activity.

When you click on Detail a window pops up with 3 columns which includes last 5 login details, with access type, IP address from which logged in and the date/time. Also if you are logged in concurrently in two different locations, you can signout from all other seeions except current session by clicking sign out all other sessions. Now you may ask, if the hacker or the person at some other location can log in again. If that’s your concern then, there is one more link from where you can change your password and security questions.

If you still have doubts please contact google ;)
